Luke Sedzikowski of Tegiwa Imports and Dave Whitmore have taken the decision to step up their racing and join forces with Century Motorsport for an AM Cup campaign at selected rounds of the 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship. The duo claimed third place in the Club Enduro Championship in 2019 and have extensive club level racing experience.
Britcar, MX-5s, M3 Cup and Hot-hatch racing are shared experience for the pair while Whitmore raced in the recent Gulf 12 Hours with a GT4 Aston Martin. Sedzikowski on the other hand has more eclectic motorsport experience, claiming the title of British Junior Hovercraft Champion and taking second place in the same competition on the world stage.
The pair are set to race at the season opening Oulton Park rounds and then return to the championship for the second visit to Donington Park in September. They will race their own M4 GT4 with assistance from Century.
It isn’t the first time we’ve had a GT4 AM Cup entry in British GT; Paul Vice and Steve McCulley raced as an AM Cup entry in the Invictus Games Racing Jaguar, giving the GT4 cat its send off at the Donington Decider for 2019.
Sedzikowski – ‘I’m delighted to be stepping up’
“I’m absolutely delighted to be making the step up from club-level racing into one of the UK’s most recognised championships,” Sedzikowski enthused. “Teaming up with the 2018 GT4 champions is an exciting opportunity and one that provides us with a lot of confidence to be challenging for decent positions. They clearly know their way around the M4 so it’ll be up to us to make sure we perform on the track.
“I’m thrilled to be sharing the car with Dave Whitmore again as we’ve built up a fantastic partnership over the last season in our M4. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the M4 GT4 and see what we can do!”
Whitmore added: “Words can’t describe how excited I am to be part of one of the biggest motorsport championships in the UK. From my childhood memories of growing up on a council estate, dreaming that one day I might be able to own a Ford Fiesta to following motorsport with my grandad on the TV – being a part of any type of motorsport really is special to me. I’m not sure I’m going to be able to contain my excitement in the following weeks as we look forward to competing in the opening round at Oulton Park.”
The Team Tegiwa entry, which is additional to the GT4 cars already confirmed for the revised season, is an additional BMW M4 GT4. This means that Century Motorsport are still looking for drivers to fill their own second car, driving alongside the previously confirmed Andrew Gordon-Colebrooke and Ben Hurst.
